The digital nomad visa is a family visa as well as a work visa. A spouse or partner, children and in some cases dependent parents can apply with the main applicant. Each person adds to the income you must show. An independent Spanish immigration lawyer confirms the details for your household.

The consulates list three groups: your spouse or unmarried partner; your children, including adult children who are financially dependent on you and have not formed a family of their own; and relatives in the ascending line, such as parents, who are under your care.
For 2026 the Washington consulate publishes EUR 2,442 per month for the holder, EUR 916 for the first accompanying family member and EUR 306 for each additional one. That gives EUR 3,358 per month for a couple and EUR 3,664 for a family of three, by our arithmetic.
Each person files their own application with most of the holder's personal documents: passport, proof of residence, identification number, fee and health insurance in the same form as the holder's. Adults also need a criminal record certificate. Your lawyer gives you the list for each person.
Every relationship is documented with civil registry records, apostilled and translated into Spanish: a marriage or partnership certificate, birth certificates for children, and proof of dependence for adult children and parents. An unregistered partner needs evidence of at least one year together. Your lawyer checks your family's records.
Government fees, translations and insurance multiply with the number of applicants. Your lawyer's fee is USD 6,000 in total for the full process, and your lawyer confirms in writing what it covers for each family member.
Families commonly apply together so everyone starts on the same schedule, but family members can also follow later. The right approach depends on school calendars, housing and where the holder applies, so raise it with your lawyer at the start.
