Spanish Consulates in the US: Which One Covers Your State?

A Spanish consulate in the United States only accepts visa applications from people who live in its district, so the first step in applying for the digital nomad visa from the US is to find the consulate for your state. The jurisdictions below come from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. An independent Spanish immigration lawyer confirms the current procedure for your consulate.

How do you find your consulate?

Find your state in the table. In California, check your county: Los Angeles covers the counties listed, and the rest of the state falls under San Francisco. If you plan to move states before you file, tell your lawyer early, because the consulate depends on where you live when you apply.

Which consulate do major cities use?

The Ministry's directory lists no Atlanta consulate, so Georgia files with Miami. Nashville and Memphis file with Houston. Seattle, Portland and Honolulu file with San Francisco. Philadelphia and Newark file with New York, and Baltimore, Richmond and Charlotte with the Washington consular section.

Does every consulate follow the same procedure?

The legal conditions are the same everywhere, but filing methods, appointment systems and document lists differ between consulates and change during the year. Your lawyer works to the current requirements of your consulate and tells you what to prepare and when.
